A Little Bit About Me

Hello! My name is Hannah Ratliff. I have been teaching since February 2017. I have lived in Williamsburg since 2012 when I came to UC for college, and loved this little town so much that I never left! I graduated UC with my BS in Education (K-5, LBD P-12) in 2016, and went on to complete both an MAEd (2018) and an Ed.S. (2019) in School Counseling from UC, as well. I am now pursuing a seminary degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. I mainly work with Reading, Writing, and Math classes, but I do assist in all the core classes and help with electives when I can. I feel that I have a calling to be an advocate for all students, and I enjoy using my skills to help them find their voice and succeed.

Fun Facts

-I have been playing piano since I was 12.

-I have been married to my husband Jacob since 2015.

-We have adopted two shelter dogs, Stella and Daisy.

-My favorite hobbies include reading, baking, playing music/singing, and traveling.

-If I could travel anywhere in the world internationally, I'd go to Scotland! My favorite place to travel in the USA is Maine.

First Priority

I am also the middle school First Priority club sponsor. The club meets Wednesday mornings at 7:40 AM in my classroom. This is a completely student-led Christian club; I just provide breakfast and a place to meet. The goal of this club is for students to grow in Christian leadership by sharing hope with their peers, and working to connect our local campus with Christ and local churches. This year, we are following the EPIC weekly rotation: Equip, Prepare, Invite, and Connect. Each week has one of these themes, and students are allowed to/responsible for finding guest speakers if they would like to have that experience. Otherwise, students can share their testimonies, Scripture, or other forms of encouragement with their peers with an EPIC manual as a guide.
