RICHMOND, KY-Williamsburg High School's FFA chapter delivered an impressive showing at the Kentucky River Regional Competition held at Eastern Kentucky University, with students demonstrating exceptional preparation, courage, and professionalism across multiple competitive events. The chapter's strong performances earned numerous accolades and positioned one student for advancement to the state level.
The chapter earned Superior ratings in a variety of competitive categories. Mackenzie Rice earned a Superior rating in AIC (Agricultural Issues Forum). In Agricultural Public Speaking, Chloe Sawyers placed 3rd in the Floral category, Zaden Housekeeper earned 2nd Place in Goat & Sheep, and Emily Cooper placed 3rd in Small Animal. The chapter also showcased strong talent performances, with Dawn Davis, Reighanna Wyatt, Taylor Blankenship, and Candace Sutton all earning Superior ratings in the Talent competition.
Several students earned Excellent ratings, including Riley Davis in Extemporaneous Speaking, Madison Goodin in Creed Speaking, Avery Brewer in Agricultural Public Speaking: Fruit & Vegetable, and Candace Sutton in Agricultural Public Speaking: Nursery Landscape. Dawn Davis also earned a Good rating in Agricultural Public Speaking: Poultry.
A special congratulations goes to Zaden Housekeeper, who earned 2nd Place in Agricultural Public Speaking: Goat & Sheep and will advance to the State FFA Convention in June to compete at the state level. Williamsburg FFA is proud to have Zaden represent the chapter and community on the state stage.
Public speaking in an agricultural context requires extensive preparation and genuine bravery. Standing before judges and articulating knowledge and passion about agriculture is no small feat, yet Williamsburg's FFA students rose to the challenge with confidence and professionalism.
