SALT LAKE CITY, UT- Outstanding student talent and dedication were on full display at the National Career Development Conference (NCDC) hosted by the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Career Association, where students from across the nation competed in events designed to strengthen workplace readiness, leadership, and career skills. The conference provides young people with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities while connecting with employers and exploring future career pathways.
Among this year's highlights was Kara Fuson's exceptional achievement in the Career Preparation competition, where she earned an impressive 4th Place National Award. Competing against some of the nation's top JAG students, Fuson showcased professionalism, communication skills, and career readiness that reflect the values and mission of the JAG program.
The delegation also celebrated the strong performance of Evan Moses in the Financial Budgeting competition. Moses demonstrated a solid understanding of financial planning, responsible money management, and real-world budgeting strategies. His performance highlighted the importance of financial literacy as a critical life skill and represented the program with distinction on the national stage.
The National Career Development Conference challenges students to apply the skills they have developed in the classroom to real-world scenarios. Kara's national recognition and Evan's outstanding performance are a testament to their hard work, determination, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
The JAG Career Development Conference emphasizes career readiness through competitive events that build confidence, leadership, decision-making, and employability skills. Students leave the conference with valuable experiences that prepare them for success in higher education, the workforce, and their communities.
Kara Fuson's national fourth-place finish and Evan Moses's notable showing in Financial Budgeting serve as proud accomplishments for our school, community, and state, demonstrating the impact of career and technical education programs that empower the next generation of leaders.
JAG Teacher Kandice Powers said, "I cannot thank our board of education, Mrs. Housekeeper, Mrs. Partin, Mrs. Winchester, the PTO, and community enough for their belief in our students. Their investment in these young people has made all the difference—empowering them to discover their potential and envision bright career futures."
