Mighty Oaks Early Learning Center Ribbon Cutting

Author: Laylee Wyatt

WILLIAMSBURG,KY-Mighty Oaks Early Learning Center held their official ribbon cutting ceremony on July 15th, celebrating the start of planting and growing the seeds of education for early development and learning.

Mighty Oaks is housed within the walls of Main Street Baptist Church, where the ribbon cutting was held. The affair was attended by individuals from various supporters of Mighty Oaks. As for University of the Cumberlands, Partners for Rural Impact, Williamsburg City School, Main Street Church, and Child Care Aware; Director of Mighty Oaks Learning Center, Kayla Henderson, extends a special thanks to the following establishments and programs which each played a significant role in the augmenting of the program, this program wouldn’t be what it is now without their help and teamwork.

The centers “Mighty Oaks” theme is woven throughout the program, with each age group representing a different stage of development kin to an oak tree: Acorns (infants), Sprouts (one-year-olds), Saplings (two-year-olds), and oak trees where they have reached the crest of their early learning. Once attending children have reached “oak tree” status, they are prepared to be passed off to preschool where their learning will only be expanded on.

The program focuses on Kentucky early learning standards, where their goal is to provide leadership and command for a comprehensive, long-lasting prenatal-to-age-five care system that aims to provide a strong basis and school readiness for all children.
